SWE "Art of Science" Outreach

The Society of Women Engineers at UNM is hosting Art of Science, an outreach event for middle school students on February 9. They are looking for female STEM professionals to talk about their experiences, through a speed-mentoring lunch! According to the AAUW report “Why So Few?” (2010), “Exposing girls to successful female role models can help counter negative stereotypes because girls see that people like them can be successful.” Share your story and your STEM experiences with aspiring scientists/engineers/mathematicians over some yummy lunch!

This event will be held at Centennial Engineering Center on UNM’s main campus. There will be two lunch groups; one from 12:10-1:00 and one from 1:10 to 2:00. You are welcome to join for one (or both) of these sessions.

The UNM Society of Women Engineers is dedicated to engaging young girls in STEM, and we hope we can count on you to help us bring science education to more girls in New Mexico. If you are interested in volunteering at this event or have any questions, please contact our Outreach Coordinator, Emily Ganley, at ganleye@unm.edu.
